Terminal Dispatcher
...provides a user-friendly entry form on your terminal for sending pager
messages using the familiar While You Were Out message pad metaphor.
DCL Dispatcher
...provides DCL command keyword $ RAMPAGE for sending pager messages
using a standard OpenVMS command line syntax. The same command can be
integrated into DCL command procedures, and may be optionally submitted for
batch processing.
Mail Dispatcher
...allows pagers to be included in the distribution of your OpenVMS Mail
messages. Simply specify the name of the recipient's pager using RamPage's
special addressing syntax (such as RAMPAGE%JONES).
Mail Forwarding Dispatcher
...allows automatic forwarding of incoming mail messages to your own pager,
based on wildcard filtering.
Application Dispatcher
...provides a series of library routines which can be called by your own
program applications. This permits your applications to generate and send pager
messages based on any user action or programmable event.
ALL-IN-1 Dispatcher
...allows direct access to RamPage's paging facilities using the ALL-IN-1
office automation system, including RamPage menu forms, ALL-IN-1 Mail, and
sending messages from your ALL-IN-1 file cabinets.
DECwindows Dispatcher
...allows direct access to RamPage using the
Motif or XUI graphical interface, including referencing RamPage's online
Bookreader documentation, and sending messages via graphical Mail.
Distribution Dispatcher
...provides full text-editing functions for composing pager messages on a
user-friendly, menu-driven entry screen. And, permits designation of multiple
recipients based on group classifications and wildcard selections.
OPCOM Dispatcher
...designates selected pagers as wireless, remote operator terminals with
message notifications equivalent to those displayed via OpenVMS's
$ REPLY/ENABLE command.
Print Dispatcher
...provides pager messaging accessibility from the DCL
$ PRINT command, or any
application capable of sending files to an OpenVMS printer queue (including
those from Pathworks and Netware clients).
Transport Dispatcher
...provides pager messaging accessibility from any application, operating
system or platform capable of transferring a file to a designated target
directory.
Internet Dispatcher
...provides pager messaging accessibility from any system capable of sending
data via the SMTP, FTP, or RCP Internet protocols.
AUDIT Dispatcher
...designates selected pagers to receive security alarms, system journals,
resource monitoring notices, and other events enabled via OpenVMS's
$ SET AUDIT command.
Watchdog Dispatcher
...provides a customizable DCL template for dispatching messages from automated
OpenVMS system management/lights- out/housekeeping functions, such as disk
utilization, system status, device errors, terminal intrusions, loss
notifications, et. al.
Environment Dispatcher
...allows automatic triggering of pager messages to system managers based on
unfavorable environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, and
barometric pressure. (Requires RamPage's optional
climate sensor units.)
Web Dispatcher
...provides a World Wide Web CGI-based query server and
auto-generated HTML extensible selections and fill-in forms for
dispatching pager messages from any desktop Web browser (such as Netscape,
Mosaic, etc.)
Named Pagers
RamPage's Pager Database contains all pagers and their characteristics,
including the name of the pager owner, the type of pager (such as alphanumeric,
digital, or tone), the pager id number, the carrier service which performs
radio-frequency broadcasting to the pager, and related notations.
Group Messaging
This feature permits multiple pagers to be designated as recipients of the same
message.
Piggyback Messaging
When supported by the carrier service, this feature enables multiple message
transactions to be uploaded in the same dial-up link.
Message Segmentation
When transmitting pager messages to the carrier networks, this feature
overrides short message length restrictions by splitting messages into multiple
pages.
Message Escalation
A message escalation procedure is provided to dispatch critical messages to
response team members. Messages are repeated at designated intervals in a
customizable rotation until manually acknowledged by a desktop user or
touch-tone dial-in. (NOTE: Touch-tone acknowledgement requires the add-on
product RamPage Remote Reply.)
Pager ACL's
This feature permits the assignment of access control lists (ACL's) to pagers
for restricting message dispatching and management to authorized users. Also
permits the creation of department and workgroup level pager lists.
Deferred Messaging
This feature holds dispatched messages until a specified deferred time.
Automatic Retry
When transmitting pager messages to the carrier networks, this feature ensures
completion by automatically retrying rejections caused by busy signals or
communications errors.
Dispatch Monitor
This utility provides a real-time dispatch monitor of all current and pending
messaging activity on up to 16 concurrent RamPage paging channels.
Dispatch Tracking
This features provides detailed tracking information about message
transactions as they are delivered to the carrier services, including
timestamps, status codes, and any non-standard carrier responses.
Message Notification
This feature determines whether RamPage should generate an e-mail notification
which displays the completion status of pages.
Activity Logging
RamPage logs carrier service communications activity in a readily available
file for troubleshooting problems such as downed lines, communications
failures, and lost or rejected action requests.
Multiple Paging Channels
For redundancy and high volume messaging, RamPage supports up to 16 paging
channels (including modem operations). Paging channels are shared
transparently by all members in a VMScluster, and may be split across CPU's to
ensure availability.
Message Archiving
By default, RamPage archives all messages to retain a full on-line history.
This information can be viewed interactively, or accessed via your own program
applications to satisfy local reporting needs.
Leased-line Access
For high volume messaging, this feature permits direct leased-line connection
to a specific carrier service network.
Database Import/Export
This utility supplements the interactive data entry utilities by permitting the
import and export of definitions in the RamPage pager and carrier databases,
based on formatted ASCII files.
Database Report Utility
This utility generates reports on the entries in the RamPage Pager Database and
RamPage Carrier Database, suitable for printing on a PostScript printer.
Message Purge Utility
This utility provides housekeeping for en masse deletion of aging messages
archived in the RamPage Message Database.
Client/Server Support
This feature provides client/server paging support for
non-OpenVMS operating systems and platforms. Any application or front end
capable of submitting a network file transfer or print job can be intercepted
by RamPage, including those from DECnet, TCP/IP, Pathworks, Novell, Kermit, et.
al.
Lights-Out Operations
RamPage permits direct pager delivery of problem notifications generated by all
DEC and 3rd party system management tools and watchdogs, including the RamPage
Watchdog Dispatcher. RamPage's capabilities for intercepting mail, OPCOM, and
AUDIT notices makes this function transparent to such applications.
On-line Documentation
RamPage documentation is provided in both OpenVMS HELP and DECwindows
Bookreader formats.
